Train Tracker is a site where you lay track for a train to follow. Seems good for the young students.

Lauri's ESL Website seems great for all English Learners not just as English as a Second Language.

Engineering Interact has some fun Science games for 9-11 year olds, so check them out! You don't have to be 9 - 11 years old.

First I would like to share a link to a tutorial video on top 5 tips on creating a lesson/activity with a smartboard. It is titled Top five tips for creating resources for the interactive whiteboard.

Scholastic just added smartboard activities to their website. Two great back to school activities are Classroom Rooms for intermediate grades and All About Me.

Fuction Machine

Function Machine is a great site to use with a smartboard when teaching math. Try to figure out the function by inserting numbers into the machine and seeing the output.

Planet Science

I love this site called Planet Science. I am biased because I love teaching science. This is a very well developed site which makes it a great resource. You can find Fun activities to do at home or classroom, online science experiments and kids will love the online games.

More Place Value?!

Well Here are some for you...
Dino Place Value - I think this would be a beginner activity since it only deals with two digits.

Place Value Darts - Here is an activity that uses place value and number facts to multiply and divide integers.

Bead Numbers - Using beads, create even, and odd three digit numbers. A sample question is "Make the smallest even number using all four beads".

Shark Numbers - If you use place value cubes, here is a good activity to reinforce the concept. Place value cubes are displayed with random numbers in bubbles. Get the question correct, move on to the next question. Get it wrong, a shark takes a bite out of your surf board. COWABUNGA!

Shark Numbers Version 2 - Same as above but if you get it correct, you get a dolphin. Miss the question, the shark takes a bite out of your boat.

Lifeguard - More place value fun! I like this one because it stresses the use of 10's and 1's. It is only two digit numbers so this would be great as beginning game in the exploration of place value.

Place value Calculator - On this page you can find a place value calculator. Great activity while you initially teach about place value, calculates up to four digits. Place Value Cards is another good resource for the same reason.

Place Value Pirates

Here is an activity from a site my students loved, Mr. Nussbaum. Place Value Pirates is an activity where you have to locate the correct place value held by some pirates. I wish one of the pirates was Captain Jack Sparrow or the Octopus beard guy.

This site might be for the older kids to enjoy but they do have some simple machine activities. The site is called Edheads checkout the simple machines portion. The site also has activities called Crash Scene, Virtual Knee Surgery and my favorite Virtual Hip Replacement. As you can see, all are not appropriate for the younger students but I have to say, I like the machine portion

Think Fast! Popper is an interactive game that helps to study and reinforce basic Math problems like addition. It is fast paced so be on your toes and pop away!

Found on the site Funschool. I am discovering the site as we speak, looks like it caters to the younger students based on the bright colors and the simplistic types of games. Look like another great resource.

Captain Underpants

Ok, who does not like Captain Underpants. Very funny stories to read to get some of reluctant readers engaged in books. As my son read them, I found them funny to with the subtle humor that parent would get. Scholastic came out with a site where students can create their own Captain Underpants comic strip, using the characters, items and backgrounds found in the books. You can only make four frames so it is short and sweet and makes a cool looking comic strips. You can even print it out and have your young Author color in the photos. Up To Ten

Up to Ten is a website that is intended for users aged up to six. There are over 590 interactive games to play and over 60 songs to listen to. I have not tried this out with my tree year old yet, but it does look simple and a good use of technology for the pre-school to Kindergarten aged kids. Check it out if you have some youngins.

I love the site read, write, think. It does what it says in a very interactive way. Find activities that address your need and off you go. I love to use the "Letter Generator" to teach how to formal letters. Not everything is don in email, maybe they can work on an email generator. Check it out and see what you can use!

Primary Games is a great site for the primary grades. Covers most subjects and it is intended for interactive whiteboards. I found it works just as well for kids to use at their seats.

Stellarium is a free open source planetarium for your computer. It shows a realistic sky in 3D, just like what you see with the naked eye, binoculars or a telescope.
It is being used in planetarium projectors. Just set your coordinates and go.

This one sounds easy enough, multiplication.com. Just what it says, multiplication games that are interactive and fun. No digital worksheet here. Now I would like if division.com would come out too!

There is a link here also to a game you can purchase, called Timez Attack. I have it and it is incredible. Kids love roaming around the 3D environment attacking the multiplication monster. (Download the Demo for free)

Mr. Nussbaum.com is a great site for interactive games. I feel this was created for third grade because there are so many of the Third Grade standards addressed here. It covers all areas of the curriculum in fun interactive games. I like the math games here, and taught in a fun way for the kids.

Internet 4 classrooms is a site that contains links to other sites. What I really like about this site is that it can be broken down my subject. I like that you can select one of the core subject and then from there you can find activities based on the standard of a particular grade. I am not sure what state standards are being used, I think Texas, but I was able to find activities to used to address some of the California standard.

Into The Book

Into the Book is a wonderful site that focuses on the area of comprehension. Intended for K-4 but I would have to say grades 2-4 with a long period on time whole group and modeling how to use this site. It focuses on Using Prior Knowledge, Making Connections, Questioning, Visualizing, Inferring, Summarizing, Evaluating and Synthesizing strategies.

Starfall

I am sure everyone has used starfall these days. I used it in my classroom for kids in my reading group that were working below grade level. This is a great site to use in the primary grades, and yes even kindergarten.

Maps That Teach

I love the website Maps That Teach. Ever need a map for the wall for the kids to mark on, you can print it out here. You can print out maps that fit on one piece of paper or a map that will printout on 36 sheets of paper (you just need to piece them all together). There are also interactive mapping games. This is a great web site for Geography.

Magic Pen is a fun game that can be played on a interactive whiteboard or at a computer. Mouse coordination is a key when drawing the geometric shapes. Not sure the academic value, but the kids sure do concentrate on what they are doing.
